This work is fascinating for its views of seventeenth-century travel on the road between Toledo and Madrid. The heroine causes delays in the trip as she pretends to be ill with motion sickness resulting from the coach ride in order to rendez-vous with her lover. But the problem of "burlas veras" is at the heart of the text and action. The opening scene in which the young man hides in the lady's apartments and, finding himself unexpectedly trapped and locked in, goes to sleep on her bed where she finds him. Problem: Who's that sleeping in my bed?
