One hundred and ten of Omar Khayyam's four-line verses, or quatrains (rubaiyat means "quatrains"), are presented here. They were translated from the Persian into English by Fitzgerald in the 19th century. Perhaps the most well known of the rubaiyat is The Moving Finger writes, and, having writ, Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.
