A tale of madness, murder, and despair centers on Heracles, who journeys to the Underworld to fetch his dog Cerberus. Upon his return, he finds that his wife and children are in danger of being murdered by Lycus, who has overthrown the king. Heracles rescues his family and kills Lycus, but then his mind breaks and he is driven to murder his loved ones. Once he recovers from his madness and realizes what he’s done, he falls into despair.
