Reflections on the French Revolution

Reflections on the French Revolution was written by Edmund Burke in 1790 as a call to European leaders to resist the new French regime. In his analysis of the French Revolution, he refutes the claim that the demands of the revolutionaries were similar to those of the English in 1688. He also discusses the false principles of the revolution, including rationalism, disrespect for private property, egalitarianism, and atheism. His defense of traditional political cultures established him as one of the framers of European conservative thought. Reflections has remained in print since its initial publication in 1790.
