In Gen. 3:14–15, we are told of an event that took place in the Garden of Eden that involved God, the serpent, the seed of the serpent, and the seed of the woman. The Bible tells us that the woman is the nation of Israel and the genealogy of the seed of the woman, Jesus Christ, that would bruise the head of the serpent. However, the Bible does not give us the genealogy of the seed of the serpent, but it does tell us who they are. They are the people of the empire that crucified Jesus Christ-the Roman Empire. So where are they now? In the book of Daniel, the Roman Empire is represented by the legs of iron and the iron in the feet and toes of the statue of a man in Nebuchadnezzar's dream. The remnant of the Roman Empire will be in existence in the feet and toes until Jesus returns as the stone that was cut out without hands that destroys the statue. The book of Daniel also identifies the Roman Empire as the people of the prince to come-Satan-that would destroy the temple in Jerusalem in AD 70. When Jesus told the parable of the man who sowed good seed in his field in Mark 13:24–30, this is the shortest and most condensed story of man from creation to the great white throne judgment. Satan is the enemy that sowed the tares, which are his seed. History tells us how this was accomplished when his people started sailing on ships all over the world.
