Oral Communication for Senior High School

It has been observed that many of the students today could hardly present and express their ideas confidently. Of the basic macro skills, speaking has been noted to be one of the least developed among students. This eventually creates a problem as they are expected to share their ideas in class when they are asked to report, present research results, and defend their theses, among others. Outside of the school, there are also day-to-day communication situations that they have to participate in. This sobering reality has inspired us to conceptualize this book and develop lessons and activities that will help students gain experience in various communication situations and hone their ability to share their ideas effectively. We envision Filipino students to become globally eligible workers and “global citizens who are part of an emerging world community and whose actions contribute to building this community’s values and practices.” To become such, they must be equipped with the skills necessary for them to be able to interact with the rest of the world.
