  • The inspiration for Oliver Stone’s JFK, Jim Garrison’s Kennedy assassination

investigation has been one of the most discussed and controversial episodes related to

the event. Often overlooked are some of the lesser known individuals prosecuted by

Garrison, one of whom Kerry Thornley, a Marine Corps pal of Lee Harvey Oswald, who

was writing a novel based on Oswald three years before Kennedy’s assassination.

  • This is the first book to conduct a thorough examination of Thornley and the Garrison

investigation period and how this episode dramatically altered Thornley’s life.

  • Garrison claimed that Thornley had been one of the notorious Oswald doubles involved

in the JFK assassination conspiracy. Initially, Thornley denied these allegations, but he

later came to suspect that he had been used as an unwitting pawn in a JFK assassination

    conspiracy.

  • Thornley and Oswald both served at Atsugi Air base in Japan, one of the CIA’s largest

and most critical installations of the period. Atsugi was one of two overseas outposts

where the CIA conducted MK-ULTRA drug experiments during the late 50’s and early

60’s. Caught In The Crossfire presents the theory that both Thornley and Oswald were

probable victims of such mind control experimentation.
