This book and video package provides the framework for WordPress (structuring sites, laying out pages), and the videos provide the concrete examples, including variations by operating systems and browsers. Readers will learn how to plan their site first and then install WordPress; work with and manage written content and media content; make a social site and nail down its look; optimize search engine use; get stats from your hosting company; use the power of plugins, tweak theme code; do a site makeover, and customize and manipulate WordPress. A trouble-shooting appendix addresses install issues and issues with editing and adding content. The value-add, video tutorials, each of which is under two minutes, cover very specific tasks as well as offering additional trouble-shooting tips. Key points: WordPress has gone through nine major revisions since the previous edition was published. WP 4.0 is due for release in August 2014 and will be the main focus of the book. WP 4.1 is due for release in December 2014 and many of its confirmed changes will be included in the 3rd edition. The exponential growth of mobile since the last edition calls for an expansion of the Themes section, to discuss the issues of responsive design and other ways of dealing with mobile device display.  In addition there have been a lot of developments with drag and drop page layout functions, both within Themes and through Plugins which will be added to the Themes section. Since the 2nd edition, Plugins have also grown tremendously. Current use of plugins will be presented in this Between a major change in the look of the admin area and the addition of some new features, all screenshot illustrations in the book will be re-created (either new screenshots, dropped screenshots, or additional screenshots). And changes in the admin design and new features also mean that all videos will be redone.
