The Talent Development Platform: Putting People First in Social Change Organizations

Talent Development Planning and Implementation identifies and defines sixteen nonprofit management competencies based on extensive research conducted by the authors with over 10,000 nonprofit workers.  The book includes a step-by-step process to help organizations design and implement a talent development program based on these competencies and data from the Professional Development Assessment Tool (PDAT) developed by the authors.  The book includes detailed cases of nonprofit organizations that have used the PDAT to develop effective professional development programs within their organizations as well as interviews with experts in the field.  A robust appendix features three Resource Guides designed to help facilitate the process: 1) National Directory of Third-Party Professional Development Providers, 2) Funding Talent Development (by Rusty Stahl) - features ideas and examples for funding talent development, 3) Cultural Competentcy and Professional Development.
