Ethics in Health Management and Policy: A Global Perspective is the perfect text for a graduate health administration or nursing course in ethics. It addresses the ethical issues of health and health care from current global perspectives, both comparative and transnational. Due to travel, business, and immigration, increasing numbers of foreign citizens are seeking health services here, while more Americans seek care in Asia, Canada, and Central and South America. With this book, students can increase their understanding of ethical issues by understanding international similarities and differences. Key issues of health services delivery (insurance, rationing of care, allocation of resources, and cost-containment) and of the health care industry (corruption, kickbacks, and conflicts of interest) in both developing and developed countries are examined. The book also considers cross-border issues that arise from the movement of patients and providers across national boundaries, such as treatment of undocumented aliens, medical tourism, and the brain drain of health care personnel from developing countries. This book will include selected readings about various topics in global health ethics from articles, reports, policy statements, and documents from governmental and non-governmental organizations, together with explanatory text. It will also include examples of documents such as policies, procedures, and forms from various countries. In addition, this book will utilize modern methods of activity-based learning, by including factual scenarios for analysis and discussion of specific ethical issues. Contents include: Each chapter is organized around an introductorys section covering the topic or subtopics and different ways in which the topic is viewed around the globe. Another kind of section includes readings that provide more depth. Each chapter includes activities for the class as a group or assignments.  Introduction to Health Ethics in a Global Perspective Autonomy and Informed Consent End-Of-Life, Withdrawal of Care and Physician-Assisted Suicide     Human Reproduction Research with Human Subjects The Right to Care And Ethical Duties to Provide Care Rationing And Allocation of Limited Resources Health Insurance and Healthcare Payment Systems Movement of Patients and Providers Across National Borders Patient Safety and Handling Patient-Provider Disputes Corruption, Kickbacks, and Conflicts of Interest
