Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nursing: A Biopsychosocial Foundation for Practice

Here’s an evidence-based, holistic approach to caring for psychiatric and mental health patients in outpatient settings. You’ll journey through the development of the brain across the lifespan—from the days of conception…through the factors that may impair brain functioning…to coverage of psychiatric disorders and their treatments. Using a biopsychosocial model, you’ll examine mental health issues through stabilization of brain chemistry, individualized psychotherapy, and re-socialization into the community.For each psychiatric disorder, in-depth coverage encompasses epidemiology, etiology, biological basis, clinical presentation of adults, older adults, and children, co-morbidities, differential diagnosis, and treatment as well as the interventions and “Levers of Change” used to aid patients in their recovery, as well preventative interventions. You’ll also have coverage of the mental health disorders associated with military service.
