Banking on Love

When it comes to her career, twenty-nine-year-old Nonkululeko Malashe has it all figured out – she is assistant to the senior buyer at a large retail store and also the founder and head of thriving online fashion portal called The Green Room. Yet her private life isn’t as rosy. Lulu’s mother and sister have their own aspirations for Lulu’s future. Both can’t bear the thought of Lulu spending the rest of her days alone and are hell bent on Lulu marrying a wealthy man – any wealthy man . . . But Lulu secretly has what she calls an Independence Plan. She has been saving every cent in order to gain financial freedom and also freedom from her overbearing family, and in five years time, she’d have saved enough to buy a lovely two-bedroomed home in a trendy new neighbourhood in Johannesburg. In the meantime, Lulu keeps the peace by going on dates with the current suitor her sister has picked for her, Mr “Moneybags” Molefe, and then rushing off for some downtime with her best friend and confidant Dumisani Sexwale. Then one such night, Dumi kisses Lulu and her whole world is turned upside down . . .
