PHILIPPINES: Our Land and Heritage 6 Revised

Philippines: Our Land and Heritage is a Social Studies worktext series, written to help our children become patriotic, productive, and committed citizens who will serve their fellowmen, their country, and God. Each lesson in the book is carefully and systematically presented to elicit age-appropriate knowledge, skills, and values. This series adopts the Understanding by Design (UbD)framework that considers a backward design approach to teaching. Before carrying out the teaching-learning process, desired results of learning are first identified wherein essential questions are presented. These questions reflect enduring understandings that the pupils must acquire and demonstrate after each learning unit. Performance tasks found in the text after each lesson provide the desired evidences of understanding. These are assessed using rubrics specific to each performance task. Opportunities for pupils’ learning experiences are likewise, carefully presented in the accompanying Teacher’s Manual.
