In Understanding the Earth through Environmental Science, many scienceconcepts are used to explain common environmental processes. Most of theseare applications of what you have learned in Integrated Science, Biology, andChemistry. To understand the Earth, it is important to know first what is goingon around us. A number of environmental problems could have been preventedif we were aware of their consequences. Since these problems already exist, understanding the scientific concepts behind them could help us deal withthem. We are living in a vulnerable world. We cannot be indifferent to what ishappening to our environment at present because how we act now will determineour future. Will it be a sustainable future? We should all care enough to makeit so.
