Interlocal Service-Sharing Agreements

This report begins with a brief discussion of the various types of interlocal service-sharing agreements and their benefits. It then discusses the major barriers that impede local government efforts to initiate such agreements and follows up with several strategies that local government leaders can use to overcome those impediments. Finally, it presents four case studies of successful service-sharing agreements, focusing on the key components of their success.
